The Battle for Aleppo
Fighting is raging in Syria’s biggest city, as the army launches a heavy assault on rebels in a key neighbourhood.
The Free Syrian Army has been battling for days to capture Aleppo – Syria’s financial capital. Control would give them a psychological boost and allow them to bring in more fighters and material from their bases across the border in Turkey.
Much of the fighting has been centred in the Salaheddine district. In the last few hours, Syrian state media said the military had retaken the area, killing dozens of rebel fighters. But the rebels deny this.
An Al Jazeera report.
