Comment on Logan Assault a Symptom of Mubarak’s Egypt by Ken

This event was terrible. The assault was a horrific crime.

Jounalists have become completely irresponsible. I watched a reporter step out of shelter and into high winds. Just then a large steel box flew past his head. It missed him by about 1 foot. All in the name of getting the story.

Here again. A journalist steps into a crazed mob where there is no hint of order in a society where females are NOT treated as equals. This was irresponsible, and her boss should be fired, and her employer sued for millioins for allowing her to be placed in harms way.

Sorry. This isn’t a he vs. she thing. If you step into harms way, don’t be surprised when you get harmed. If I jump out of a car going 80mph, will you call me brave? Nope. You would call me an idiot.

Well. In this instance Lara got raped. In other instances jounalists get shot or worse. Are they brave? Nope. Idiots.

Comment on The Reasons Why Saudi Arabia Will Not Fall by sally

If the Saudi Medical services are so top notch why did King Abdullah have to go to New York for his recent micro discectomy?
Saudi Arabia is the root of much of the trouble in the world and the perpetration of the most fanatic and evil branch of Wahabi…

Comment on Dubai the Winner in a ‘Game’ of Regional Turmoil by Sam 99

I am not sure just by ending on a positive note there’s any pettiness involved. Isn’t the point that for many, many people Dubai has allowed people to change their futures. I thought that was the point of it all.

Of course, transformational opportunities mean you need something to offer, and some are just excluded except from a very basic level of improvement – laborers for example. I would say the lives of their families and children back home are improved considerably though.

Taking a slightly positive view does not make the point less true, although i agree you could have been more downbeat. But thats personality. Glass half full, glass half empty…

Totally agree with all that is written, then you lose the plot by reverting to the triumphalism of a leveraged era and pettiness of the playground with last paragraph.

Comment on Urgent: Fresh Arab Approach towards Iran, Palestine by Robert

The only Arab leader in all of their history was their prophet. All other real leaders with world impacts have been Muslims but not of Arab decent. Only an Iranian, Turkish, Kurdish, Pakistani, or any other leadership will unite that Muslim world to fi…

Comment on The Reasons Why Saudi Arabia Will Not Fall by 12345

“Saudi Arabia doesn’t come close to the crimes perpetrated by Hosni Mubarak, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and Qaddafi on their people.”

Actually, it does. In fact, they’ve done and continue to do much, much worse. They continually oppress half of the population to an unthinkable degree, treating them as lower than dirt. That alone is worse than anything the aforementioned have done. I cannot understand why the world sits by and lets this policy continue in Saudi Arabia, when the apartheid regime in South Africa was so widely condemned. Gender apartheid is even worse than the apartheid of a race.

Meanwhile they enforce the death penalty for a number of “offences” including nonsense like witchcraft and have public executions. They’re also the world’s largest supplier of terrorists, and just about ever Islamist insurgency worldwide has ties with Saudi Arabia. Let’s not forget that the majority of the 9/11 suicide hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. Coincidence? I think not. The youth are indoctrinated with extremist Wahhabi values through their appalling education system which produces terrorists, anti-westernism, discrimination and plain ignorance.

Of course, greedy western nations are also at fault for legitimising this tyrannical regime.

Did the Saudi king pay you to write this nonsense. Saudi Arabia is a hell whole where people suffocate. The idea that people in Saudi Arabia don’t want freedom like everywhere else is a racist stereo typing. Hopefully the whole “royal family” corruption comes to an end.

A brilliantly written piece – I was almost there, the oppressive atmosphere on my shoulders. I truly hope the Libyans can make themselves a better world.

I bet Debbie Schlussel reacted that way because she could never get the kind of attention Ms. Logan gets, welcome or not.

Hm. Those Arab leaders seem to have more common sense regarding Iran than either the Bush or Obama administrations. More than both put together.

Comment on Regarding Lara Logan: Don’t Let it Stain Tahrir by MadeInUSA

Punks and criminals are facts of life in every country, the main difference is how well they are either taught their place when young, so they do not mature into adult punks, or controlled by the society around them so they do not assume they can get away with the usual things punks everywhere do.

I don’t think the _average_ american blames Egypt for this; the remarkable restraint of the crowds, the police and the military in Egypt speak highly of the character and common sense its citizens are capable of. People like Rush Limbaugh etc do have supporters here, but there are more who are disgusted with them.

In an ideal world, Arabs and Israelis both would exhibit this sort of restraint and easily solve the issues between them… but I think that would require an act of God, who is going to let humans sort it out with free will and then let us deal with the consequences of our ways.

Comment on Saudi Takes Action Against ‘Preachers of Hate’ by Ghalib

Sucking up to Abdullah, Sabria? Fact is it is your beloved USA and Britain who conspired to make war against Islam (yes, Islam, not Iraq and Afghanistan). So, in one sense I agree: Christianity is not the real enemy in this context, it is Washington and London. But the result of all those Saudi students attending those Christian institutions you mentioned is a newly-acquired compromise on their identities as Arabs and Muslims. It is time your government wakes up to the fact that they have sold Islam’s holy land to their masters in Washington.
For me and millions of Muslims, we say: Hasbunallahu wa ni’amal wakeel.

I quote “This is the real Saudi Arabia and the essence of Islam.”
You really expect me to believe this shit? i have read Quran and Hadith and also know what Saudi Wahabi teaches and Saudi money does in Africa and elsewhere. Common, don’t insult my intelligence.
